City Was “Founded in 1866”

Tiruchirappalli, (formerly Trichinopoly in English), also called Tiruchi or Trichy, is the fourth largest city and situated in the geographical center of the State Tamil Nadu. The city stands on the banks of the River Cauvery on which the first man-made dam KALLANAI was built across. Tiruchirappalli is one of the oldest inhabited cities in Tamil Nadu. The world famous landmark in Trichy is the 85m tall Rock Fort right in the middle of the City, which used to be a military fort during the Pre-British era.

Tiruchirappall is an important educational centre in the state of Tamil Nadu, and houses nationally recognised institutions such as National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) National Law Universities (NLU), and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) Srirangam.

Tiruchirappalli is a prominent city for art and culture with several tourist attractions in the neighbourhood.

As a transportation centre of the State, it is well connected by major roads, railways, and by an International Airport.
